Le Villageou is 6kms away from Belvès, which is recognised as “one of the most beautiful villages of France”. Your gite is also only half an hour from Sarlat (a star in the Michelin guide) with its impeccably restored architecture and range of lively markets, featuring poultry, walnuts, fois gras and truffles. Les Eyzies and the national museum of prehistory are 30kms away, and you could go a little further to enjoy the Lascaux caves. Belvès is also a ideal starting point for seeing the “Valley of the Castles” (Castelnaud, Beynac, La Roque-Gageac), for a tour of fortified villages (Domme, Monpazier, Molières, Beaumont) and for visiting the fortress look-out of Bonaguil on the borders of the Périgord Noir and the Quercy.

For those of you who enjoy wine tasting, less than an hour away are some of the most prestigious Bergerac wines (Monbazillac, Saussignac, Montravel, Pecharmant). Just be careful to not be over the limit for the way back!
